Your policy covers many sports and activities as standard. Sports and activities are only covered on an incidental, non-competitive and non-professional basis. You can view a list of sports covered as standard on our Travel policies here.
These types of cover need to be included at time of purchase and cannot be added on mid policy. Certain exclusions may apply, please refer to your Travel Insurance Certificate and policy booklet for further information. You can view our Travel Booklets here.
Winter Sports cover is available as an add-on in our Essential and Extra policies and is not available on our Value policy. This type of cover needs to be included at time of purchase and cannot be added on a policy mid-year.

AA Travel Insurance policies do not cover you either directly or in-directly for any pre-existing medical conditions that are not declared when taking out your policy. This includes the need to cancel or curtail the trip due to any pre-existing medical conditions. You will not be covered for a pre-existing illness if you have not declared this.

If you need to declare a pre-existing medical condition, or if there is a change in your state of health please call 1890 456 250 to complete a Medical Health Declaration with our medical screening partners All Clear.

AA Value Travel policies cover up to €3,000,000 in medical cover. Essential covers up to €5,000,000 and Extra covers up to €10,000,000. To make sure it’s suitable for your visa you must check the requirements, such as ensuring the policy is valid for your entire stay or longer.
When you buy travel insurance with us we will email you your insurance documents so you can then present the insurance document with your VISA application. This document includes a table of benefits stating the particular coverage, so you can show this to the visa officer.
The Schengen region is covered if you select Europe as your destination.
You can select which countries you would like to have covered. If you select Europe then you are covered in Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Channel Islands (Bailiwicks of Guernsey and Jersey, Sark and Herm) Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, FYR Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia west of the Ural mountains, San Marino, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Vatican City.
You can select worldwide excluding the United States of America, Canada and the Caribbean.
You can also choose worldwide which covers all countries. If you are going backpacking, you can also just choose Australia and New Zealand for backpacker insurance.
