What is named driver experience?

This is a discount we offer if you haven't had a policy in your own name before, but have been a named driver on someone else's policy without any claims. It works in the same way as a no claims bonus, so you get a discount for every full insurance year you have been a named driver, up to a limit of five years.

We accept named driving experience earned in the Republic of Ireland only. To claim driving experience you must have been specifically named on a policy. Driving under an open drive policy does not count as driving experience. Each year of driving experience should be consecutive; i.e. there should be no gaps in the cover.
The end date of the most recent named driving period must be consecutive with the start date of your new policy. You need to provide a Letter(s) of Named Driving Experience as evidence. If you have been named on multiple policies you need a letter from each insurance policy you were named on. We cannot accept a Certificate of Insurance, proposal form or Schedule of Insurance as proof of your named driving experience. If the date of the last driving experience is over 3 months ago, Insurers may not allow the discount.
